Seasons of Hope

“Do not oppress the widow, the fatherless, the sojourner, or the poor, and let none of you devise evil against another in your heart”  (Zechariah 7:10).

When we marry, we pledge to dedicate our lives to our spouse “’til death do us part.” Losing a spouse is a devastating ordeal.  The consequences of divorce and loss of the existing relationship is also traumatic, and sometimes accompanied by feelings of failure, worthlessness and alienation. Though the circumstances differ between the loss of a spouse and divorce, in both cases drawing on our faith gives us the strength and endurance needed to carry on with our lives.

There are several support groups available to those who have lost a loved one or have gone through a recent divorce including:
Hope and Healing Support Group for Separated and Divorced Women, and Rose Sweet's Catholic Divorce Survival Guide for divorced and separated Men and Women.

For those whose spouse, friend, or relative has died, Seasons of Hope Support Groups are available at Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish, and Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish in Albuquerque. Prince of Peace hosts sessions in the evenings during the fall and spring. Holy Rosary hosts sessions in the afternoon and the evening in the  summer, fall and spring.

For information on dates and times of each group, call the Family Life Office at 505-831-8117, or look on the office events calendar for dates and times of upcoming support group sessions.

Consolation Ministry Training for parish lay ministers and clergy is available to parish ministers through the Family Life Office upon request. See our ministry training page for information on Crossing the Threshold of Hope Bereavement Ministry Training.
