“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations" (Jeremiah 1:5).

Post Abortive Healing

abortion 2.png

As Catholics, we are called to protect and defend life from the moment of conception until natural death. But for women who have made the heart wrenching decision to have an abortion, a decision made out of fear or desperation can have a lifetime of emotional repercussions. Many women who have had an abortion often report feeling empty, angry, ashamed, and regretful, among many other emotions. Likewise, men who have been involved in any way with abortion often feel guilt, numbness, or sadness.

To help with the emotional pain of an abortion, many women and men have received hope and healing through Project Rachel - where trained volunteers will confidentially and non-judgmentally help both women and men who have been dealing with the trauma of abortion.

Project Rachel helps women who have had an abortion understand that it is normal to feel regret, anxiety, sorrow or even depression. By acknowledging the connect between the woman's current emotions and the abortion, she has taken the first step in healing. Take the next step to begin the healing process, and call 505-831-8238 for a confidential referral.

In Proverbs 3:5, we are asked to "trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." With a truly contrite heart, God's mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion, inexhaustible. The Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) frees us from our sins and reestablishes friendship with God. Please consider taking advantage of this Sacrament as part of your post-abortive healing.
