Deepening Your Catholic Faith

As Catholic New Mexicans, we come from diverse walks of life, shaped by unique backgrounds and personal experiences. These experiences influence how we see the world—but what binds us together is our shared belief in the Catholic faith and in the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is this faith that sustains us. It gives us strength in hardship, teaches us to show mercy, and inspires us to give our time, talent, and treasure to those in need. Ours is a rich and beautiful faith, one that calls us to be beacons of hope in the lives of others.

We are spiritual beings, and today more than ever, our souls thirst for truth—the kind of truth that only our Catholic faith can provide. But as Pontius Pilate asked Jesus before the Crucifixion: “What is truth?”

For Catholics seeking to deepen their understanding, or for non-Catholics curious about the faith, there are many accessible and meaningful resources available.

The best way to grow in faith is to begin with education. Many of us were raised Catholic, yet struggle to explain our beliefs to others. That’s often because we were never taught to explore the “why” behind what we believe. The first step in truly understanding Catholicism is to turn to the “Good Book”—the Holy Bible—which holds the truth at the heart of our faith. You can hear daily Scripture readings during your morning commute or while running errands by downloading Laudate, a free app for smartphones. For questions about morality, Church teachings, and the differences between Catholicism and other denominations, the Bible is a foundational guide.

Another excellent resource is Relevant Radio on 98.9 FM or online at relevantradio.com. Relevant Radio offers a wide variety of programming—everything from Catholic apologetics and faith-based discussions, to praying the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, to commentary on current events from a Catholic perspective. Whether you're a lifelong Catholic, someone returning to the Church, or simply curious, it’s a rich source of encouragement and truth.

Lastly, don’t overlook opportunities available right here in our community.

Workshops, retreats, and seminars offered through the Archdiocese's Pastoral Ministries Division provide valuable opportunities for reflection, learning, and spiritual growth. These gatherings help clarify Church teachings and offer personal encounters with God’s love and truth.
