You, Your Child & the Sacraments
“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children” (Isaiah 54:13).
According to studies, parents have the most influence on their children than anyone else, which is great news! But when it comes to our faith, many of us parents may feel like we lack the knowledge needed to handle questions from our children about Catholicism.
Fortunately the Family Life Office has several spiritual reflection, family activity and prayer guides for families when preparing for the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, and First Holy Communion. These guides provide age-appropriate reflections on gospel narratives related to that particular sacrament. The reflections encourage families to make connections between the love they have for their child and Christ's love, as revealed in gospel stories. The hope is that families will come to see the sacrament as the beginning of a deeper relationship with Christ and the Church, while equipping parents and children to receive the grace of the sacraments more fully.
“You, Your Child and the Sacraments” are spiritual reflection guides to use when preparing children for the sacraments.
The guides include:
For Baptism - "Called by Name"
For Reconciliation - "Called to Mercy"
For First Holy Communion - "Called to be One Body
All guides are available through the Family Life Office. Call 505-831-8117 to obtain these guides.
