From an early age, children are exposed to sexual themes in our culture, media and even at school. Biblical teachings about abstinence until marriage are often mocked and dubbed as “unrealistic” and unachievable.
God made us to love and be loved but that means caring for another person’s well being. If we love and are attracted to someone, we should not involve them in anything that would be harmful spiritually for them, such as sex before marriage. But the topic of sex and abstinence can often be challenging for parents to have with their children.
For parents of young girls, there is BeYouTeaFul, a mother-daughter tea that allows girls to experience what true beauty is and how to become the beautiful people they were created to be. It also equips mothers to share God's gift of femininity with their daughters, ages 10 to 12.
A resource for hosting a tea is available to parishes and community groups through the Family Life Office.
